Artist FAQs
Other questions? Email info@overturemusicintensive.com.
Are engagements paid?
Yes. Booked performances, masterclasses, and mentoring are paid engagements. Fees, schedule, and expectations are agreed in writing before each engagement.
What does OMI look for in artists?
Professional-level artistry, chamber music experience, and a genuine interest in connecting with audiences and young musicians. Ensembles and individual artists are both welcome.
Can I propose a masterclass on something other than repertoire?
Please do. Alongside instrumental masterclasses, we welcome sessions on topics such as technology and music, composition and improvisation, building a career, performance psychology, and other subjects that inspire young musicians.
Is mentoring in person or online?
Both. Mentors may coach in person, for example during the Summer Intensive in New York City, or work with students virtually throughout the year.
Do artists working with students follow safeguarding guidelines?
Yes. Every artist who works with students completes a background check and child-safety training, and follows OMI's Child Safety Policy. We share our policies and agreement before the first engagement.
What happens after I apply?
Our artistic team reviews applications on a rolling basis and contacts artists when there is a good fit with an upcoming performance, masterclass, or mentoring need.
