When do applications for Summer 2027 open?

Dates, tuition, and the application will be announced soon. Join the interest list below to hear first. It’s free and doesn’t commit you to anything.

What does a typical day look like?

Mornings start with warm-up classes, followed by private lessons or ensemble coaching. Afternoons are for chamber music rehearsals with faculty and teaching assistants, and evenings bring masterclasses, concerts, city tours, or a sight-reading party. See the full Summer 2026 schedule, day by day.

Who can apply?

Young musicians ages 9 and up, from around the world, who play piano, violin, viola, cello, or clarinet.

Do I need to apply with my own chamber group?

No. Students apply individually, and our faculty place each student in an ensemble matched to their instrument and level.

What does the application involve?

An online application and a recent recording of the student playing. Full requirements will be published when applications open.

Is housing included?

Housing and meal arrangements for 2027 will be confirmed with admissions details. Families who live in or near New York City can choose to commute.

How are students supervised?

Student safety comes first. Minors are supervised by OMI faculty and staff throughout program activities, including outings. Every adult who works with students completes a background check and child-safety training, and follows OMI’s written Child Safety Policy.

Can OMI help with a U.S. visa?

Yes. We’re happy to provide a letter of invitation and other supporting documents for a visa application. OMI does not apply for or sponsor visas for students or their families.

Is financial aid available?

If cost is a concern, let us know when you join the interest list. Tuition and any available support will be shared with admissions details.

Can family and friends attend the final concert?

Yes. The final concert is open to the public, and families and friends are always welcome.
