Privacy Policy
Last updated October 10, 2026.
Overture Music Intensive, Inc. ("OMI," "we," or "us") is a New York not-for-profit corporation. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information through our website, programs, events, and fundraising. Questions? Email info@overturemusicintensive.com.
Information we collect
- Information you give us online: your name, email address, and the details you include when you contact us, RSVP, join an interest list, apply, volunteer, share community news, or subscribe to our newsletter.
- Program information: for students in our programs, the information collected under our Student Participation Agreement, including student and parent or guardian contact details, emergency contacts, and health information needed for safety.
- Donation and ticket information: your name, contact details, and gift or purchase history. Card and bank details are handled by our payment providers, and OMI does not store full card numbers.
- Technical information: our website host automatically records basic data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, to operate and secure the site.
How we use information
We use personal information to run our programs and keep participants safe; respond to inquiries, RSVPs, and applications; process donations and issue receipts; send updates and fundraising messages; and meet our legal, tax, and reporting obligations.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use advertising or analytics trackers. We share information only:
- with OMI faculty, staff, volunteers, venues, and partners as reasonably needed to run our programs;
- with service providers that work on our behalf, including Netlify (website hosting and forms), Resend (email delivery), Zeffy (online donations and tickets), Cauze (giving and employer matching), and your bank for Zelle gifts;
- with medical personnel in an emergency; and
- when required by law, including reports required to protect the safety of a child.
Cookies and embedded content
OMI does not set its own cookies. Some pages include content from other services, such as our Zeffy donation form and YouTube videos (shown in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode), and some images are loaded from Unsplash. These services may collect information or set cookies under their own privacy policies.
Photos, video, and recordings
OMI photographs and records its programs, rehearsals, and performances to share our work and celebrate our musicians.
- Students (through a parent or guardian, for minors), faculty, and guest artists grant OMI permission to use these images and recordings through their written agreements with OMI. We use them for educational, promotional, archival, fundraising, and mission-related purposes.
- We keep records of media consent and honor opt-out requests. We do not identify minor participants by full name in public images without a parent or guardian's consent.
- Photos from partner events are shared with the partner's permission.
- Audience members at public performances may appear in photos or recordings.
- OMI owns the images and recordings it creates. Please do not copy or reuse them without our written permission.
To ask about an image, or to request that one be limited or removed from our website, email info@overturemusicintensive.com. We will make reasonable efforts to honor your request.
Children's privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. A parent or guardian should submit any form about a participant under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
How long we keep information
We keep records for the periods set by our Document Retention and Destruction Policy, then securely destroy them. For example, program and student records are kept for seven years, or until three years after a student turns 18 if that is later. Gift acknowledgments are kept permanently, and routine solicitation records for three years. We may keep information longer when the law requires it or when it relates to a legal matter.
How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including access controls, encryption where appropriate, and multi-factor authentication for sensitive systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify affected individuals of a data breach as required by law.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter, by replying to any message, or by emailing us.
- Opt out of fundraising messages while still receiving program information.
- Ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to records we must keep by law.
If you live outside the United States, including in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under your local law. We will respond to requests in line with applicable law. To make a request, email info@overturemusicintensive.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
