OMI Connects · Community engagement

Kids helping kids, through music.

Young musicians don't have to wait to give back. Through music, they can bring comfort, curiosity, and joy to children, families, and communities, in hospitals, schools, and neighborhoods.

The idea

Music shared, not simply performed.

OMI Connects brings small groups of OMI young musicians and alumni, accompanied and supervised by professional faculty, to share chamber music with children and families.

Our initial focus is pediatric and family-centered settings. Each experience is planned with the host organization, around its participants, space, policies, and needs.

A visit, in three movements

Listen. Discover. Connect.

A flexible outline shaped with each host. Participation is always optional.

Listen

A short musical welcome.

A small ensemble shares thoughtfully chosen chamber music, with duration and volume agreed with the host.

Discover

Meet the instruments.

Young musicians and faculty offer accessible introductions, listening invitations, and room for curiosity.

Connect

A shared conversation.

Where appropriate, guided questions or simple creative responses turn a performance into a human exchange.

Partner-led & faculty-guided

Thoughtful before the first note.

Plan together.

Agree on audience, setting, timing, staff coordination, participation, and access requirements with the host organization.

Prepare responsibly.

Confirm performer eligibility, guardian permission, faculty supervision, and all site-specific health and visitor requirements before any visit.

Respect every participant.

Photography, recording, and interaction follow the host's policies and appropriate permissions. We never collect patient information.

A musical experience, not a clinical service. OMI Connects is community arts engagement. It is not music therapy or treatment and makes no promise of health outcomes.
